At this conference we have experts presenting sessions on two streams, Training and Business, which is in line with our conference theme “Compliance + Business = Success”. In the Business stream we have exciting speakers like Kerwin Rae and Peter Moriarty who will present sessions on business development, sales, marketing, finance and leadership, to help business owners to learn how to grow their business. The Training stream is for RTO Owners, compliance managers, administrators and management staff, with specialist speakers from the Training Industry like Angela Connell-Holden and Wendy Perry, who will deliver sessions on how to improve your RTO compliance as well as entrepreneurship within the Training Industry.

We live in a time of great challenge and controversy as the world transforms into a Digital Economy and the fundamental status quo of countries, companies and whole industries is transformed.  Mindfulness gives the tools for leaders to lead and inspire themselves and their organisations through this change.

ASIC have identified that nearly 50% of businesses fail because of poor leadership. Mindful leadership involves using tools and techniques of Mindfulness as a part of your leadership style.  Utilising these tools enables leaders to not only understand who they are, but also to adapt their leadership style based on the unpredictable nature of change that they are faced with.  The benefits of mindfulness have been linked to an increase in emotional intelligence, specifically empathy and self-regulation, and as these areas are developed being better able to manage conflict and communicate more effectively.

Leadership has many frameworks for managing the technical aspects of a company but does not have many similar frameworks for learning how to be an authentic leader or how to develop your authentic leadership style.  Research shows that 47% of the time we are mentally off-task. Even something as simple as a Mindful breathing tool, for example, can help you become more aware of emotions and stay on-task. Mindful breathing is where as an emotion comes up you start noticing the sensation in your body and you then stop what you are doing, pause, and reflect on this emotion.  In using this Mindful tool you are then learning to be more proactive (empowered by choice) rather than reactive to that emotion and mentally staying on task.

As the world transforms into a digital global economy the ability to focus when surrounded by ever increasing amounts of information and distractions will become a key leadership skill.  A study by the University of Washington on three test groups highlighted the benefits of another Mindful tool- meditation.  The study “found that only those trained in meditation stayed on tasks longer and made fewer task switches, as well as reporting less negative emotion after task performance, as compared with the other two groups.”

The presentation by Michele Gennoe- The Mindful Leadership Lady will outline a leading edge 7 step leadership development framework based on the book “Mindful Leadership” which combines the latest research in cognitive science, neurosciences and organisational transformation. In today’s world there has never been greater need for inspirational leaders who can role model, support and inspire those around them to be their best and there has never been a better time to become a Mindful Leader.

Angela is the owner of Vivacity and has been working in the training industry since 2000 in the capacity of Trainer through to RTO Owner and now consultant to this thriving industry.

In 2006 Angela commenced at an RTO as a Training Coordinator and 3 months later she bought the business… this is how Angela commenced her career into the RTO industry.

Since then Angela has developed extensive experience within the training industry, in particular building business through innovation and gaining experience in RTO Compliance. Angela’s vision is to change lives through education.

As the CEO of Vivacity Angela has helped a range of RTOs achieve 100% Compliance from Initial to Reregistration.

Michelle has practiced for around 12 years, almost exclusively in the area of workplace relations and is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Workplace Relations Specialist.

Cancellations 

Cancellations for registrations will only be accepted in writing to the Conference Secretariat, Nikki Abercrombie at Abercrombie Management (vivacity@abercrombiemanagement.com.au). Registration cancellations made prior to 1 May 2016 will be refunded less a cancellation fee of $100 to cover administration costs. No registration refunds will be made after this date. As an alternative to cancellation, a colleague may attend in your place if the Conference Secretariat is advised.
